Wayne Rooney donned a Mrs. Doubtfire costume for a date night with his wife Coleen to attend a musical, and the photos have taken the internet by storm.

The couple headed to the theatre last night (January 15) to see the comedy musical, based on the much-loved 1994 Robin Williams film, and Coleen shared images from the evening via her Instagram Stories.

In a photo of her and Wayne in front of the theater, she captioned: “Had a fantastic time at the show… Incredible cast, with plenty of laughs along the way!”

She subsequently gave a glimpse of the duo heading backstage following the performance, where Wayne had the chance to don the Mrs. Doubtfire prosthetic shoulders, face, and hair, complete with a wig styled in her iconic grey quiff.

The footage captures the moment the costume is placed over her husband's head, while she and the crew share laughter in the background, accompanied by the caption: “And plenty of laughs followed!!!!”

The Rooney family has made headlines lately. Just this month, Wayne was dismissed from his role as the manager of Plymouth Argyle football club due to difficulties in achieving positive results for the team.

Coleen was a contestant on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in December 2024, making it all the way to the final, but came second to McFly singer and guitarist Danny Jones. In the wake of the show, she’s rumoured to be lining up a new TV deal, including a potential fly-on-the-wall reality series.
